Prior to having a skin tag removal, all patients will have a thorough consultation with a doctor where they will assess the lesionsof concern and your goals of treatment. From here a treatment plan will be provided which will detail the removal process and expected recovery and outcome.
Skin tags can be removed either surgically or by the use of cryotherapy, shave and cautery or diathermy. The most appropriate technique will be decided by your doctor.
Prior to removal a local anaesthetic will be injected to the area to ensure comfort. A dressing will be applied to the treated area immediately post treatment.

Our team provides comprehensive aftercare instructions to minimize complications and ensure full wound healing to optimise cosmetic outcomes. These instructions will be provided post procedure. Aftercare following skin tag removal may involve the applications of aftercare creams or gels (such as Stratamed) or surgical dressings. Normal activity can generally be resumed after the procedure and many return to work the same day.
Recovery and healing takes 1-2 weeks, however some cases subsequent treatments may be required.
Small scars can result from the procedure which are often less noticeable than the original skin tag itself. Hypertrophic or keloid scarring is uncommon.
